Can someone PLEASE give me some tips on what to eat, in order to strengthen my finger nails?

They used to be very strong and healthy when I ate meat. Now, they break all the time.

TKS!

Do you have RA? I have notice those with RA needs more minerals and protein.

Are you eating enough dark green veggies and seeds/nuts? Those who replace fruit for veggies/nuts- seeds may have mineral problems. If you cook a bit of food, make that cooked product beans/peas/ lentils. Adding raw (dried) sea weed will also help. (be sure it is sun dried)
Adding Hemp, Chia or more flax everyday.

Make sure the nuts and seeds are truly raw! Dont use head lettuce!!!

Have you started taking medications? Are you still eating dairy?

Supplements: I take MSM

TKS so very much Beanybeegan!
What is RA? Not on any meds.
But I do have a goiter problem.

I love the nuts and do eat them as an alternative for sweets. But haven't been eatting the greens like I should. I recently bought two ten oz bags of spinach. Have juiced some and ate some as a salad. Yes, I have been off and on the dairy. My precious daughter just bought me home a pint of Ben and Jerry's. Need I say more?!? But I plan to throw out what I didn't finish of it....

I do eat kelp for the iodine for the goiter. It is shrinking it. More so when I juice only and no solids of food....

RA is rheumatoid arthritis

I had assumed you were on the HA diet but it sounds like you basically stopped eating meat.

To eat healthy you have to choose the way God created us to eat and then live by it.

Just like asking Jesus to forgive us for our sins and asking Him to take over our life and then following Him through eternity. Both are very simple but needful.

I dont know how much understanding you have concerning the HA diet, so here is some information to help you along.

I read (somewhere online) that good fingernail health is a result of good vitamin B12 in your body. If your nails aren't very strong or have those ridges on top of them, you are probably deficient in B12.

Mine are also breaking easily and have the ridges. I started adding B12 supplements to my diet and they are much stronger now, they still break more than I like, but getting better. And the ridges are almost completely gone away.

You gotta love those daughters!! It took awhile for my daughter to realize I was not going to McDonald's to get a Bacon Egg and Cheese biscuit anymore in the mornings!!

Blessings

Much TKS Mamoo and Beanybeegan!
Great advice....

Yes, I am on the HD! And love it. My body loves the BarleyMax. Just struggling with the diary issue.

Matter of fact, when I read the ingrediants of the four (4) boxes of Girl Scout cookies that I recently bought, I threw them away because they were made with milk. (Gotta love the thin mints but in the garbage they went).

Because of the HD, I never realized just how much milk and cheese are in foods. Even some Veggie cheese which some are not caisen free.

thanks mamoo for the B-12 information. I have had those ridges on my nails for years. I take B-12 but maybe I should up it. :?: Think I'll try for a year and see what happens. Let you know the outcome then. :D :D :D

Fingernail ridges are also a sign of thyroid disfunction. Good luck.
